In 2021 and in 2022, the corona pandemic made it impossible to organise the Fryslân Open. Fortunately, conditions are now better and all lights are green for the Fryslân Open tournament. The city of Franeker and its playing locations: the Tallship Company's histotrical sailing ships, theather de Koornbeurs, the old town hall and the planetarium will be the unique playing locations of this special draughts week in the first week of March. Players from at least 10 countries will visit the city to play one or more of the tournaments. As a finale, the FRYSK! worldchampionship is played in Franeker's old town hall.
